Tips To Avoid Identity Theft

Identity theft schemes have become more prevalent in the past years, and it's important that you know the best way to protect yourself. Here are some tips to help you avoid identity theft.

  1. Shred papers that contain personal information before throwing them away.
  2. Never give out personal information via e-mail or a website that you are unfamiliar with or do not trust.
  3. Be sure that the websites for which you are inputting personal information are secure and legitimate. Look for a small padlock in the lower right corner of your web browser window. If it is locked, then that site is secure. If it is not locked, do not input any information on that site.
  4. Be assured that Financial Center will never contact you via phone or e-mail to ask for your personal information.
