Beware of Phishing Attempts
We have become aware of several phishing attempts targeting members of the credit union and consumers in the Indianapolis area. These phishing attacks have been taking place over the past weekend.
One of these attacks is being conducted via an automated voice message. The other attack is through a text message. Here is what the text message says:
FRM: FCFCU MSG: Financial Center FCU system notify - unhandled access. Toll Free Call 877-826-3615.
We are working diligently to shut down the sources of these attacks. Financial Center does not contact anyone to confirm, update, or verify member account information via phone, email, or text message. If you are notified that there is a problem with your account and are asked to respond by email or phone, don't do it. Instead, we encourage consumers to use the number on their debit/credit card or on their account statement to determine if it is a legitimate contact from our financial institution.
We urge all consumers to send any email or text messages that they suspect are fraudulent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
